Installation
Windows
- Staring version 2.1.0, a JRE is embedded withe windows installer, so installing Java is no longer required
- Download and run the windows installer OpenVisualTraceroute.exe
- Run the application named Open Visual Traceroute from the Start Menu
Mac OSX
Linux Debian (Ubuntu, Mint)
- Install traceroute, whois
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install traceroute whois
- If you don't have any java, install it too
sudo apt-get install openjdk-11-jre-headless ca-certificates-java java-common
- Download and install the deb package ovtr_x.y.z-1_i386.deb or ovtr_x.y.z-1-amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i ovtr_x.y.z*.deb
- The application will be available in your Unity launcher, type "Open" and the application will should show up.
- If you have issues installing this package, please follow the universal package instructions
Linux RPM (Redhap, OpenSUSE)
Universal and portable package
- Download the universal package OpenVisualTraceRoute.zip, unzip it
- On Linux systems, install Java and traceroute, and set execute privileges to the ovtr.sh, finally run it
unzip OpenVisualTraceRoute.zip
cd OpenVisualTraceRoute
chmod +x run.sh
./ovtr.sh
- On Windows, install Java, then double click on org.leo.traceroute.jar
Limitations and known issues
Systems that don't have a graphic card/drivers that supports required OpenGL features will not be able to use the 3D map
